Title: The New Joint Australian New Zealand Forest Valuation Standards
The New Zealand Institute of Forestry and Forestry Australia have recently completed a review of their respective forest valuation standards and published a joint valuation standard. The CPD workshop will describe  the updated document  and discuss ongoing initiatives. The Australian forestry sector is now obliged to report Climate Related Financial Disclosures, and it can be expected that New Zealand will follow suit.

Title: Reform of  the Resource Management Act. What are the proposed changes  and what do they mean for forest owners.
Major changes to the Resource Management Act(RMA)  are being proposed. The proposed changes will see the current RMA replaced by two new pieces of legislation:
The Natural Environment Bill – focused on environmental protection and enhancement.
The Planning Bill – focused on the use development and enjoyment of land. 
The new planning system  is intended to enable development and economic growth while safeguarding the natural environment. The bills aim to cut through the ‘red tape’ of the current resource management regime.

Andrew Wells,Principal Customer Regulatory Specialist – Overseas Investment , LINZ 
Title: Recent Changes to the Overseas Investment Regime with a Focus on Commercial  Forestry
This session will provide an update on the recent changes to the Overseas Investment regime  that have removed the special provision for applications by overseas entities to purchase land  for forestry. It will also provide an update on the application process and advice to those making applications on behalf of overseas applicants.

Title: Changes to forest policy and regulations that have implications for forest investors and operational managers
The session will cover recent changes in policy settings that forestry advisers, managers and investors must be aware of. These include changes arising  from climate change response legislation and to the National Environmental Standard for Plantation Forestry.
